Jaipur: The last spell on the ongoing Southwest Monsun has brought cheers to the farmers.
This is for the sixth time in the last 11 years when the state has surpassed the average rainfall.
Jaipur Met Office said the state would get rainfall at least 10% more than average.
Also, from 33 districts, only two were left with deficit rainfall.
Toi on Thursday talked to Jaipur Met Office authorities to find out the right numbers.
“The average monsoon rainfall in Rajasthan is 512.96 mm.
But until Thursday this year, the state has received an average rainfall of 549.94mm, which is almost 7.2% higher than the average,” said an officer with Jaipur Met Office.
Although it is expected that Southwest Monsun will withdraw from September 16, the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), Delhi announced an extension until September 27.
“This became Gamechanger because previously nearly 9 districts were in the deficit rainfall category.
Now only the Sirohi and Srianganagar districts are left with a deficit tag.
The two districts will also get rainfall and will come in the normal rainfall category,” Weathermen said.
As far as Jaipur concerned, he received 553.43mm rain until Thursday against a normal average rainfall of 495.10mm.
“That means this city has received almost 11% rainfall higher than last year,” said an official met.
Srianganganagar has received only 114.42mm, which is 42.8% compared to normal.
Meanwhile, several areas in Banswara and Dungarpur were flooded with the opening of the Mahi Dam Gate (BANSWARA).
In his estimate, Jaipur Met Office said that with heavy rainfall to moderately will take place in the City Division, Udaipur and Jaipur, while light rainfall will take place in the Jodhpur division in the next few days.
