Jaipur: The gutter line choked giving local ‘smell’ time

Jaipur: The sewerage line chokes giving residents of some difficult wards after they start to overflow and smell.
A few months ago, bigger JMC had submitted a generator tender to various contactors in each zone.
For seven zones, three contractors were employed, which should use machines provided by the corporation, maintain them and employ labor.
Many board members complained that the cleaning was not done correctly.
Ramprasad Sharma, a board member of Ward 125, said the sewerage lines in the area were clogged for the last 15 days and the residents found it difficult to breathe because of a foul smell.
“We can adjust if the garbage vehicle does not come on time, but we cannot do much when the gutter line starts to overflow and smell.
We have submitted several complaints with JMC, but it doesn’t work.
Everything gets worse during the rainy season,” said Shar MA .
The contract for Malviya Nagar was canceled in two months because the contractor did a bad job.
Rajula Singh, a council member from Ward 130, said the ward would continue to face a similar problem if the old waste line of three decades was not changed by administration.
Another board member from Vidhyadhar Nagar, asked anonymity, said, “We need to complain several times because our problems are heard.
The council members even complained to the mayor in public meetings about unsatisfactory work.” A senior JMC official, with anonymous conditions, said they received several complaints from different wards even after giving a contract.
“The problem will survive because the population has increased and the sewerage line is old.
We have bought a new jinjing machine and share it.
But changing the line will need a large investment.
Until it was done, the contractor’s work would never be fine enough,” said the official .
