New Delhi: The New York court has pasted the pursuit of US assets of US India for the recovery of an arbitration award worth $ 1.2 billion, allowing British companies to achieve completion with the Indian government on a loose dispute.
The New York District Court was postponed taxes until November 18, according to court documents.
It follows Cairn Energy and Air India together asking the court to remain a further process considering the government imposes new laws for retrospective tax memo in this country.
The new law will result in withdrawal of RS 10,247-Crore tax request that the government has sought from Cairn.
The source with direct knowledge of the problem says the Ministry of Finance is a framing regulation that will lead to the withdrawal of retrospective tax requests in Cairn and 16 other companies, including the British Vodafone group.
These rules require companies to withdraw all litigation to the government in return for returned money collected to force retrospective tax demand.
Format to do that the company must provide a commitment to attract litigation under finalization and must be released in the coming days, they said.
The company must use that format to provide an effort, after that money will be returned.
Overall, the government must return around RS 8,100 Crore, which Rs 7,900 Crore will only mature for Cairn.
