Gurugram: A man has been ordered for allegedly planting a GPS-enabled tracking tool in his alienated wife’s car, a doctor based in Gurugram, and stalks him, said the police on Tuesday.
According to the complainant, he had found a portable GPS S20 tracker in his car, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, on September 26 when he accidentally dropped his cellphone in the vehicle.
“I was waiting for a patient in my car and tried to keep my cellphone near the gearbox when it slipped from my hand,” the complainant told the police.
He claimed to have found a black box repaired in the car.
“It was surprising and strange because I never put a box like that in my car.
Because of curiosity, I issued a box and found that it was a portable tracker,” said the doctor.
The complainant claimed that he had shared a photo of a device with his brother, which then guided him to open it.
“I found a SIM card on the device.
It seems that my movement and location are recorded and transmitted to other devices,” said the doctor in his complaint, added that his privacy had been “violated”.
In his complaint, the doctor stated that his vouming husband had installed a tracking device in Convance with his car cleaner, which had access to the car key beside him.
The couple was in litigation, police said.
Based on his complaint, a case has been registered under section 354D, 354C (voyeurism), 506 (criminal intimidation) IPC and Section 67 (publishing or transmitting or transmitting in electronic form) acts at the Sector Police Station 56.
Station House Officer ( Sho) from the Sector 56, Inspector Amit Kumar said, “We are investigating this case and trying to find out who installed the tracking device, in which direction and for what purpose.
There is no arrest made in this case so far.
