Bhubaneswar: Police Special Forces Comisiancah here on Tuesday arrested Mumbai-based MBA graduates from Kolkata for allegedly deceiving a jewelry store in Bhubaneswar Rs 1 Lakh.
Rajiv Prabhas Gupta (37), the defendant, allegedly bought gold and silver ornaments from a shop in the Tamando area and gave a false online payment receipt to the manager.
Explain the modus operandi, the police said the Gupta bought ornaments worth almost RS one lakh on September 15 and insisted on paying his bill through the UPI gateway.
To get the trust of the store manager, he first sent Rs 10 to the store account from his UPI address.
“He took the screens’ catch from Rs 10 transactions and within minutes of making a fake online payment receipt of RS One Lakh.
He then went to the counter and pretended to pay the RS lakh through UPI.
Then he showed a fake screen catch from the transaction.
He also shows fake messages that show money debited from their account, “said Sanjeev Sanjeev Sanjeev Sanjeev Sanjeev Sanjeev Sanjeev Sanatpathy Assistant.
When the store manager said they did not receive money, Gupta took him to confidence and quoted the slow internet as a reason for delay in getting confirmation about successful transactions.
The shop manager allows Gupta to leave.
After realizing that they were cheated, the shop manager filed a complaint with the Tamando police station.
“We tracked it from the birthpaid that had shared with the store during the purchase.
We knew he flew to Delhi from Bhubaneswar after committing fraud.
Then he took a flight to Imphal from Delhi.
Working on a tip, we held it at Netaji Subhas International Airport Chandra Bose when he was Back from Imphal to Kolkata on Monday night, “Satapati said.
City police are related to their colleagues in Delhi, Mumbai and Imphal to find out about the criminal anteceden, if any.
He lived in an apartment in the Andheri Mumbai area after the death of his parents recently.
Police said the defendant underwent a luxurious life, often flew to various cities on the flight and stayed in a star hotel.
Some gold and silver jewelry is worth around RS two lakh confiscated from him.
