PANAJI: Drive the vaccination static point for the dog owned starts on the day of the world rabies, on Tuesday, where Sheres will be vaccinated for free at a local animal hospital in Goa from October 4.
“Now, Goa is a region controlled by rabies, the centers will be identified in which state once a year can bring their dogs for annual rabies vaccination.
Wild dog vaccination will be carried out on the talukas border – Pernem, Sattari, Bicholim and Canacona,” said Dr.
Marwin Lopes, Nodal Officer for Rabies control.
“We lost a lot of life when we did not have a vaccine for Covid-19 but in the case of rabies, we still lost 20,000 lives every year in India even 130 years after the rabies vaccine was developed, which was embarrassing,” said Dr.
Murugan, Director of Education, Rabies Mission.
“Goa has become a pioneer in rabies control and has shown the world that it is possible to control the virus,” he added.
Awareness campaign was also marked by four cellular conscious vehicles with messages and images with the public announcement system to go to each and every village in Goa during static free vaccination until October 26.
The World Rabies Day was celebrated as Rabies’s Day and the birthday of the death of Louis Pasteur scientist who developed the rabies vaccine.
