Fisheries Min visits the coast guard station

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of Fisheries Saji Cherian visited the coast guard station in Vizhinjam on Wednesday.
During the visit, the minister was given a presentation by the commander of the station about various available maritime vessels and rescue vessels and suggestions for the procurement of boats that were appropriate by the state government for the Department of Fisheries.
The Minister also visited the coast guard jetty and coast guard boat.
Then the minister started the ICGS C-441 board for the sea sortie and saw ICG operations, including IC-309 operations.
After completing the sortie, while talking to media ministers said that in the past five months most of the accidents at sea occur in five marine miles from the beach.
He asked the Coast Guard to submit a report within one month to buy a boat that can be used to carry out search and rescue operations within 20 miles of the sea.
During the presentation delivered by Coast Guard, detailed information about which ship can be used for search and rescue operations, vessel speed to reach the site shown.
The minister said that the coastal protection movement will begin in the state with the participation of the coast guard.
He praised ICG’s efforts to ensure the security of fishermen at sea.
He also convinced sustainable support from the government to coasters in infrastructure development.
