Cairo: Egyptian President and visiting US national security advisers Jake Sullivan agreed to intensify international efforts on the upcoming election in Libya in talks in Cairo on Wednesday, the statement of the Egyptian presidency.
President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Sullivan also discussed the reconstruction in the Gaza Strip, the Renaissance Grand Ethiopian Dam (GERD), bilateral relations and situations in Tunisia, Syria, Yemen and Iraq, said the statement.
It did not mention human rights, which the White House said on Tuesday will also be on the agenda during Sullivan’s visit.
Sullivan arrived at Cairo after a trip to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and was accompanied by Brett McGurk, the White House coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa.
In Libya, both parties agreed to strengthen coordination in the withdrawal of foreign troops and unification of Libyan military institutions, said the statement.

The planned pollar is part of the United Nations-led effort to reunite Libya after years of conflict and division, but facing deep challenges.
