Hyderabad: The leading program of the Telangana Government of Telangana Ku Haritha Haram (THH), taken to increase the green cover in the state is the world’s largest plantation encouragement in the country and third in the world after China and Brazil.
After launching THH, Telangana had planted 239 crore puppies in the past six years, namely nine crore more than the target of 230 crores.
Chairman of Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao started THH in July 2015 with the intention to increase forest coverage to 33% from 24% in 2014.
India’s national forest policy, 1988 also imagined 33% of forest cover.
There is a gap of around 9% in forest cover in the state, said the East Telangana Forest official.
Officials Department of Forest said there was no other country that had risen the plantation drive so large in the past.
“In the past six years, the Ministry of Forestry and other departments have embedged more than 160 nirkup outside of forest areas and other 80 crores with forest areas after the 7th THH program this year.
This includes direct plantations and degraded forest rejuits,” said Head of Forest Conservator (Social Forestry).
Because CM KCR has given a top priority for Haritha Haram, not only the Ministry of Forestry, Income, City and Pancayat Raj have actively participated in the program every year.
The state government declares a green budget in every civil body and even makes that every selected representative in Panciran and the municipality must ensure 85% of puppies in their respective jurisdictions.
