Hospital Govt Lawley Coonor gets a new ICU

Udhagamandalam: Collector Nilgiris J Innocent Divya inaugurated the New Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Coonoor Government Lawley Hospital on Thursday.
Funded by Rekha Menon from Bengaluru and his sister Dr.
Seema Mehrotra in collaboration with United Way Chennai, ICU Five beds arranged at the cost of RS25 Lakh.
The siblings funded the facility for their father’s memory Dr.
Mehrotra, who was the principal of Shimla Medical College.
ICU is equipped with two bed ventilators, transportation ventilators, multipressing monitors, defibrillators, infusion and syringe pumps, and suction apparatus, among other medical equipment.
Thanking the donors and stakeholders involved in the project, Divya said, “At the time of need, the coonor community came along with the vision of strengthening the health care infrastructure in the district.
The ICU will make critical health services accessible to patients, Those who have to travel to Coimbatore for the same thing until now.
“Meenakshi Ramesh, Executive Director, United Way Chennai, said it was temporarily distributing oxygen concentrators during the second covid-19 wave peak that they realized that coonor desperately needed the ICU.
“We are very grateful to our sponsors for support.” This century government hospital has seen new additions from dialysis parts, victims units and oxygen plant plants in the past six months.
All facilities are sponsored by the private sector.
