Mumbai: a resident of Andheri (W) 32 years old, who was in the textile business, was arrested for risking the lives of police traffic police and deterred him when trying to stop his SUV for trying to attach on the wrong track.
Sohail Kathoriya continued to drive even though Vijayshinh Gura (48) sat in a SUV hat when he did not stop his vehicle despite being marked for breaking the traffic rules under the Azad Nagar Metro Station in Andheri (W) on Thursday morning.
Kathoriya then left his SUV and escaped.
He was tracked at his house after D Nagar Police received details from the Regional Transportation Office (RTO), where the vehicle was registered.
“Kathoriya was produced in front of the Court of Andheri and was returned to police custody until Saturday.
He violated traffic rules, and when the police tried to stop him, he tried to speed up his vehicle,” said D Nagar Senior Police Inspector Millind Kurde.
Kathoriya was ordered under the IPC 279 (rash driving) and 353 (blocking public servants from the assignment).
The incident video became viral.
Gurav’s complaint said he pointed to the driver to stop, but he flashed the ID card claiming he was a medium.
“When he tried to escape, I got on the hood, assuming he would step out and I would challenge him.
But he went with me sitting in a hat,” he added.
