Coimbatore: There is a decrease in Covid-19 cases among school students in the district, which is in Tenterhooks when the number of students who tested the positive virus began to shoot after the school was reopened for class IX to XII in September 1.
While five students were found infected at 6 September, four and six other cases appeared in the following days, before the number rose to seven in September 9 September, only two students were tested positive for viruses in the district on Friday and Thursday.
P Aruna, Deputy Deputy Director of Health Services, said the collection of random samples in schools conducted every day have helped them identify cases in the early stages of infection and contain deployment by isolating positive cases.
He said most infected students only have mild symptoms.
N Geetha, District Head Education Officer, said the drive of exclusive vaccination for teachers and parents of students in front of schools that opened back seemed to have worked with miracles.
“By vaccinating parents, who go to work, we can minimize their chances of being infected and transmitting the virus to their ward.” Officers said ensuring student compliance with social blasphemy norms and facial mask etiquettes was a real challenge.

The district also reported two Covid deaths that day.
With this, the toll has touched 2,340.
In neighboring Tirupur, 80 people were tested positive for the virus that day, even when 101 patients recovered from infection.
While 93,024 people in the district were infected up to date, 91181 of them had recovered.
At present, Tirupur has 888 active Covid cases.
