Pune: The airport authority is considering a reduction in the number of flight movements every hour to reduce crowding in the terminal.
Since September 2020, civilians at the airport operate between 8am – 8 nights because of the runway carpet work.
The airport handles 114-120 flight movements between this 12-hour window.
Director of Pune Airport Pune Santosh Dhoke told TOI that the number of airlines operated per hour was outside the current capacity.
“We can increase the number of flights but that means leaflets will face more problems.
Crowding mainly because of many flights,” Dhoke said.
“There is no shortage of CISF personnel and additional workers has been deployed.
The number of flights has risen and the airport currently operates for civil flights for only 12 hours,” Dhoke added.
The leaflet on Sundays complains of chaos during security permissions.
“It seems that security staff is inadequate to handle high passenger volume.” The leaflet said.
Hashim Shaikh, who flew to Delhi on Saturday, was often complained by density.
“From the pressure and encourage to curse, passengers do everything at the security check counters,” he told Toi.
Dhoke said leaflets let Temper fly without own responsibility.
“According to instructions given by the Civil Aviation Security Bureau, all airports must be in the highest alert form,” Dhoke said.
According to the airport director, many leaflets reach the last time.
“They reached late at night and then panicked and in a hurry,” said Dhoke.
Dhairyashil Vandekar flight analyst said the Indian Airport Authority (AAI), had to blame mostly because he always saw profitability while cleaning new flights without considering the situation on the ground.
