Pfizer-bionech covid vaccine is 90% effective to prevent inpatient to six months, without signs reduced during the period of time, according to a new new US study conducted by researchers in Pfizer and Kaiser Permanente.
This vaccine also provides strong protection against highly contagious Delta variants, scientists found.
In a subset of people who have a sample of their virus sequentially, this vaccine is 93% effective against hospitalization from Delta, compared to 95% of hospitalization from other variants.
“Protection of hospitalization remains high from time to time, even when Delta dominates,” said Sara Tartof, a public health researcher at Kaiser Permanente Southern California and the first writer of the study.
However, the effectiveness of vaccines against infection dropped from time to time, down from 88% during the first month after vaccination up to 47% after five months.
This finding, which was published Monday in Lancet, came amid the debate about whether, and when, Booster Shots might be needed.
Data from Israel showed that the effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine against infection fell to 39% at the end of June and early July, down from 95% in January to early April.
But still kidnapped 90% effective against severe illness over the period of time.
On the other hand, a recent study from the control centers and prevention of disease reported that the effectiveness of vaccines against hospitalization fell to 77% after four months, compared with 91% in the first few months.
In a new study, the researchers found that the overall vaccine was 90% effective against hospitalization and 73% effective against infection.
Among those aged 65 or more, it was 86% effective against hospitalization and 61% effective against infection.
