Earlier this year in June, Apple – at the annual Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) – has announced the ability to find lost airpodes.
The feature should be accompanied by iOS 15 but was not launched.
A report by 9To5Mac said that Apple has launched firmware updates to the Airpods Pro and Airpods, which will make it easier to find it with Find My App.
How do you work? Apple has a wide network of devices and with the latest firmware updates, pro airpods and airpods max are part of it.
What this means is that this wireless headphone can send a continuous Bluetooth Beacon message.
If – and when – there are other devices in the area where airpod is lost, they can detect the signal and show it to find my network.
A user will get an idea of the location of the lost airtag.
Users will also get a visual indicator of the estimated location of the device.
How to get a new firmware update on airpodsit already years now but getting a new firmware update remains a task on airpods.
There is no process specified where you can activate something on the iPhone and get an update.
What you can try and do is keep the airpod inside the kasing next to the iPhone and wait for the firmware update to land automatically.
In general, after updates come, airpod users get it in a relatively short time.
What features similar to airtags? Not really.
The airtag has a U1 chip in it that gives them the arrow direction feature that can direct you to the right location.
Airpods do not have u1 chips so they have different UI and have a blue theme, compared to the green in the airtags.
Note that the find feature is compatible with AirPods Pro and Airpods Max only.
