Kolkata: Health Department Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Thursday received its own sophisticated food testing laboratory.

The Chairman of the KMC (BoA) Administrator (BoA) Firhad Judge on Thursday inaugurated a food testing laboratory at the Civic headquarters.
This facility is equipped with equipment that can determine adulteration in all kinds of food ingredients – raw or cooked meat, any fish or vegetables.
The laboratory will also have the capacity to test pesticides in soft drinks, said the KMC health department official.
The need to update the KMC-managed food testing laboratory was first aired last year after the controversy of pesticides in soft drinks produced by class I soft drinks.
