Pink card to provide ‘priority care’ to female parents

Rajkot: In another significant step taken to save girls, the Junagadh Regency Government issued a special card to parents of girls who will benefit from priority care in all their daily government work.
‘Pink card’, created in the theme of the slogan ‘Meri Beti Mera Abhiman (my daughter is my self-esteem)’, distributed on Thursday to 1,618 parents in Rural Junagadh and 1,000 in the city.
It aims to make parents from girls feel proud of every step of life, said the source.
District administration scans born birth data and identifies parents with girls.
The card scheme including parents only has one or two daughters.
Even couples who have one son and a daughter have been excluded.
Cards bear the name of the girl and father of girls and their father and address and other details.
Pink card holders do not have to stand in the queue, or if necessary make a separate queue, in all government offices – whether it is pancayat, income, or city corporation.
Mamlatdar’s office distributes these cards after verifying all details.
Speaking with Toi, Junagadh District collector, Rachit Raj said, “We want parents from girls feel proud of their daughter and get priority care in all government offices.
We are also in talks with private stakeholders to provide benefits for this card holder In the Junagadh district as a moral responsibility.
However, we will not impose a scheme to a private player.
Card distribution will take eight to 10 days.
