Mumbai: For the fourth time in the last 10 days, the number of covid cases of the city daily above 500, with 529 cases registered on Friday.
Daily counts below 400 only on October 4 (339) in this period.
Maharashtra (2,620) continued to add less than 3,000 cases for the seventh day, and recorded 59 deaths, took a total caseload to 65.7 lakh and the total toll became 1,39,490.
BMC health officials said there was an uptick in case, but was not worrying.
“In certain bags such as Hill Malabar, everyday cases have increased from 15 a day earlier to 30,” additional Commissioner of BMC Suresh Kakani.
“There is free movement, socialization, and density density.
Also, the number of people who came to the city had risen in recent weeks.
This is the reason that leads to bursts,” he said.
However, daily peposititives in the city continued to be around 1.2% and the weekly growth rate in several wards had fallen from 0.1% to 0.09%.
However, the weekly covid covid level in Thane City has shot up to 3.2%, a sharp increase from 1.9%, after the ganpati festival.
Even when experts connect an increase in people, crowding during the celebration season along with LAX compliance with Covid safety protocols, Thane Municipal Corporation claims there is nothing to worry about at this stage.
State government officials say a little increase or decrease in cases is not the cause of worries and be linked to the number of tests carried out.
The number of people treated in hospitals in critical conditions has not yet risen.
“Even though we have to be careful for numbers, a slight increase is not worrying.
Maharashtra has shown a consistent decreased trend despite opening most sectors,” said an official.
