Mumbai: a new line has broken between Shiv Sena and BJP for credit for the development of Chipi airport in Sindhdurg.
The airport will be formally inaugurated on Saturday.
Chairman of the Minister of Uddhav Thackeray, Minister of Jyotiraditya Scindia and the Union Minister for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of Narayan Rane will be present in his functions.
They are all expected to go to Sindhudurg together on a plane from Mumbai.
Both, Sena and Rane, have installed stockpiling along the route to the airport, claiming credit for the airport.
On Friday, Rane at a press conference in Mumbai insisted that it was through his efforts that Chipi Airport was formed and finished.
He was the one who, in the 90s, took effort to develop Sindhudurg as a tourist destination, adding that Shiv Sena was not in the picture, but now trying to take credit.
“That was my approaching Scindia and asked him to start operating from Chipi.
He asked me to date, and I told him there was a fine friend and he chose October 9 for the inauguration,” he said.
Opposition leader at the Praveen Darekar legislative council objected to the government eliminating former CM Devendra Fadnivis’s name from the list of guests at the invitation.
Sena MP and spokesman Arvind Sawant said the state government had followed all the protocols in expanding invitations to the ministers and elected representatives.
