New Delhi: Power Minister Delhi Satyendar Jain, met with a member of the power distribution company (discount) in Delhi on Saturday to discuss the ‘power crisis’ in the national capital, claiming that the hot power plant from which Delhi only has one of the supply of coal.
Speaking to Ani after meeting, Jain said, “There are acute coal shortages in coal power plants throughout the country.
There is only one day left in the plant where Delhi gets electricity, there is no coal at all.” Appeal to the center for the center Transporting coal to the national capital, Delhi’s minister said, “There is a appeal to the central government to transport coal immediately using a train carriage.” He further informed that all plants had run only at a capacity of 55 percent, instead of the full capacity of 3.4 lakh megawatts (MW).
“Today, only 1 Lakh MW request is left instead of demand for 3.4 MW, but still, the power plant cannot fulfill this request,” he said.
Jain said that Delhi did have its own coal factory, national capital only has small plants that produce gas.
“We have a 1300 MW factory in the lead, which operates on the gas, where gas supply is stopped yesterday.
And national capital does not have its own coal factory.
Only three small plants that produce gas,” he said.
He stated that currently Delhi depends on the central plant provided when we demand a power supply.
“After two days, there will be a total blackout throughout Delhi, if we do not receive more power supply from the center,” Jain added.
To resolve the power crisis in Delhi, Jain said that the government was ready to buy expensive electricity today.
“Our hydroelectric crop capacity also reduced from 45,000 MW to 30,000 MW.
But, we want plants to produce 45,000 MW of electricity during this peak hours.
We have also made a power purchase agreement with NTPC 35,000 MW-45,000 MW.
However, we are ready to buy expensive electricity Today at the cost of Rs 20 per unit, Jain added.
Furthermore, Jain said this power crisis ‘man-made crisis’.
“It seems that this power crisis is a crisis man-made, like the oxygen crisis occurs during the second wave of Covid-19 as well-made , “he said.
