Coimbatore: The state government takes steps to increase the state geographical area under green closure from 23% to 33%, the forest minister K Ramachandran said here on Friday.
Speaking of the 67th Wildlife Week celebration held at Tamil Nadu Forest Academy, the minister said the original tree species would be planted in the forest.

When the wildlife population increases, forests must offer the necessary food, which is needed by the original tree species.
We focus on planting more original tree species by removing exotic species such as Eucalyptus brought by Englishman, “he said.
