Guwahati: Five assembly constituencies in the state, which will go to Bypoll on October 30, again in the election mode again for the second time in four months.
Minister of Himanta’s minister Buswa Sarma kicked his campaign for three BJP candidates for Thowra’s constituency, Mariani and Bhabanipur on the last day to submit nominations on Friday.
Sarma expressed confidence that BJP would win all three of these seats, which was won by the opposition congress (Thowra and Mariani) and AIUD (Bhabanipur), while Ally Uppl will win two other Bypolls in Gossigaion and Tamulpa.
“My political assessment is that the selection of Gossiigaon and Bhabanipur will be worth closer when the contest here will be interesting,” Sarma said.
While Gossiigaon was won by former Ally BPF BJP, Bhabanipur was won by AIudf in April elections.
Thowra, Mariani and Bhabanipur fell passively after the three legislators resigned from their party and joined BJP in the past two months.
BJP has lowered the same candidate because this will give the best chance party to grab this chair.
Among the other two empty seats, Tamulpur, held by UPPL and Gossiigaon, held by BPF became empty after the two legislators died of Covid-19.
Even when the EC announced the Bypoll date, another assembly chair in Assam, Majuli, fell passively that day.
The United States and the former CM Sarbanou Sonowal, who won a chair in April, resigned from the Assembly on Tuesday after he was chosen without repositioning to Rajya Sabha the day before.
