Chandigarh: Police on Friday arrested a motorcyclist who allegedly persecuted British diplomats in sector 10 when he was walking two days ago, claiming he had harassed Indian income service officers (IRS) in sector 26 on June 4 too.
Ketan Bansal, SP (City), said the defendant was Vishwas, a resident of Nayaacaon.
The 21-year-old worked as a cook at a restaurant in Manimajra.
He was nabbed from the residential board lights.
The police said after registering Fir (First Information Report) on a diplomat statement, a team was formed to solve this case.
Scanning CCTV cameras in sector 10 and other regions helped the police identify the defendant.
The complainant also identified the defendant.
The police recovered his motorcycle.
The police said the defendant during the interrogation told them that he would go to his workplace from his house through the sector 10 at 6 am on October 6, when he saw the woman walking alone and told him.
He said he drove away when the diplomat ran after him.
The police said the defendant had harassed IRS officers while he cycled with his friends in the early hours of the morning 4.
The IRS officer had fallen and received a minor injury.
In his complaint, sector 26 police have registered cases under the relevant section of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC).
The IRS officer identified Vishwas as a max, police said.
Police said they verified his involvement in two cases of sexual abuse.
The defendant is a class X pass-out.
He lives with parents and brothers.
He will be produced before the local court on Saturday.
British diplomats accused a biker who allegedly patted his back, when he was in the morning walking near CLTA, sector 10, early on October 6.
He shouted and ran after him but the defendant had drove.
Then, he had filed a complaint at the Sector Police Office 3.
