Nagpur: Despite facing the financial crisis, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has begun the process to spend RS 2.32 Crore on the development of a new park – ‘Vande Mataram’ Park – planned by the Mayor of Dayashankar Tiwari.
The Standing Committee NMC will make decisions about proposals that seek administrative approval and begin the tender process at the meeting to be held on October 12.
Two proposals are on the agenda associated with RS 1.99 Crore expenditure on civil work and others related to the green work from the park of Rs 33 Lakh.
Tiwari planned a park in public land utility (PU) and part of the open space of the textile park layout from Maharashtra State Textile Corporation (MSTC) in the area of 13,122 sq.mt which was extensive.
Tiwari has managed funds for compound wall construction from the Nagpur Mla Vikas Kumhare center and also started work.
Tiwari previously claimed that NMC funds would not be used for gardens due to the financial crisis.
The garden is planning on a controversial road proposed in the Empress Van which falls in the Tiwari environment.
This area is close to Gandhisagar where three parks already exist.
Also, there are no mass residential areas located adjacent to the proposed park.
Tiwari also planned the proposed e-library in his environment and the Civic body spent around RS 5 Crore for it.
The committee will also make a decision to issue work orders to a private body to find space for new hoarding, conduct surveys for increasing existing hoarding, revised tariffs, etc.
Also, the proposal is to end a landslide battle in India Personal Ltd, an advertising agent outside the cartel.
