Thiruvanathapuram: The government will add 7,000 names again on the Covid-19 death list in the state, Health Minister Veena George told the assembly on Friday.
He said the hospital began to upload details of direct death to a special portal from June, and the newly added names were left due to the lack of required documents.
George’s guarantee came after the opposition accused the government not transparent about Covid’s death.
While ending allegations of unfounded opposition, he remained not an expert to provide additional compensation to the relatives of the dead, compared to the RS 50,000 ordered by the Supreme Court.
George said that a separate portal was being made where relatives can apply for the inclusion of names not included in the Covid death list.
The portal will open from October 10, and the official team will receive calls on the application within 30 days.
“The government will advance in a clear, accurate and time-bound manner to withdraw compensation to all decent citizens,” George said.
P C Vishunath who is looking for leave for the postponement movement by raising this problem, said compensation is not mostly luggage but the mandate is in accordance with Part 12 of the NDM Act.
“Countries such as Bihar have expressed compensation for Rs 4 Lakh.
Is the state government ready beyond Rs 50,000,” he asked.
Oppo leader V D Satheesan said that some people could even lose SCMandated Rs 50,000 because the government had not released their data died before June 16 this year.
“The government even ignores the ICMR guidelines that those who die because of health problems such as cancer after being influenced by Covid, must be categorized under Covid’s death,” Satheani said.
