Kolkata: Premier city clubs do their bits to celebrate the largest Bengal Festival that maintains Covid and other protocols.
Both the new heritage and new city clubs have planned a special menu for Durga Puja along with programs involving members.
While Calcutta Rowing Club arranged ‘Agamanyi’ to mark the beginning of Puja Durga on Saturday, Ilss, Calcutta Club has set a special program at the beginning of the previous week.
Tolly Club and Newage Clubs such as Calcutta Metropolitan Club, Princeton Club will prepare a special menu in Puja Days.
Club Secretary Calcutta Rowing, Chandan Roychowdhury, said that as before arranged Agamani involving members, partners and their children.
“On a one and a half hour program, we maintain all Covid protocols and NGT guidelines,” he added.
CRC will also have a special Bengali menu on all Puja Days – Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Dashami.
“We also calm the code dressed for pujas until October 20,” he added.
Secretary with Ilss Arabinda Roy said they celebrated Agamani on October 8.
“We used to do durga puja also before but after the protocol and order in the lake we had stopped it.
But we will have a special menu in Saptami, Ashtami and Navami.
Code dress will also be relaxed,” he said.
President Calcutta Club Partha Sarathi Ghosh told TOI that it had celebrated Agamani on October 5 with all protocols in place.
“We also maintain three members of our faded veterans in their respective fields.
The club will arrange puja lunch in Saptami and Nabami.
There will be a special menu,” he added.
Tolly Club CEO of Anil Mukherjee said that it would arrange Bijoa Sanmilani later.
“We will also have a special Puja menu.
There will be a Hilsa Festival too,” he added.
The manager (operation) of Princeton Club, Sanjay Karmakar, said that on the four days of Puja, there would be a special menu.
The East Metropolitan club also plans a special menu, said Secretary Sanjib Ghosh.
The Premier club reopens their restaurants and bars along with several sports activities after relaxation of guidelines by the state government in mid-June.
