Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday released a draft resettlement policy and its first rehabilitation for slum occupants.
The policy design by the Tamil Nadu Nadu Habitat Development Agency (TNUHDB), who was previously known as Tamil Nadu Nadu Clearance Board, stated that it applies to encroachment, eviction and transfer carried out by the Department, legal authorities and local agencies under various actions and regulations.

Noting that the policy will apply to other instructions for people who are expelled from unpleasant porumber land, it is said that the policy is only valid for gratus / land rights holders, where the displacement is proposed for resettlement without accidental.
While the distance from the nearest city or source of work must be considered to identify land for resettlement, the daily livelihood activities of the beneficiaries in question must be remembered.
In addition, the residents of slum areas can only be accommodated in areas where it will not take more than half an hour to reach the closest urban areas with the bus or train.
“Time travel with buses or trains should not be more than half an hour to reach the closest urban area from where people are expected to be moved,” said the design.
TNUHDB has invited suggestions from stakeholders about policy design.
They must be submitted within 15 days (before October 27, 2021).
