CALANGUTE: Minister for the Port and Calangute Mla Michael Lobo on Wednesday said that the state government needs to come with a holistic plan to overcome the problem of wild livestock so that it minimizes losses for farmers.
“We collected more than 700 livestock lost from the constituency of Calangute and sent them to a shelter in Mayem.
However, all livestock lost countries cannot be sent to one shelter.
We need to have more gaushalas in all Talukas.
We cannot blame livestock when They go and eat vegetables grow in the fields.
They are part of the ecosystem.
We need to come up with a holistic plan to overcome this problem, “he said.
Calangute MLA said that anyone who intends to regulate livestock spilled in one or two talucas can be given support.
Speaking at the launch of harvesting machines in various Panchayats in the constituency of Calangute and Siolim, Lobo said that farmer contributions that sell their products to the state government, which have not been cleaned so far due to lack of funds, will soon be paid.
He also convinced to take farmers’ requests for subsidies on diesel used for their agricultural machinery.
“The government provides annual diesel subsidies to fishermen and in the same line we must give to farmers,” he said, adding that the state government would continue to provide all assistance to farmers.
