Thiruvananthapuram: Head of Pinarayi Vijayan’s minister urged people to be more careful because the rain continued in the state.
The government gave sanctions RS 4 lakh as direct assistance to their families who died in landslides and floods.
Vijayan said all precautions were taken to shift people from sensitive areas and seek people’s support for this.
People should not hesitate to shift from their homes to a safer location, he said.
“People must avoid all trips between districts and have to come out only in an emergency situation.
Prediction is that the state will receive more rain and therefore people must be more careful,” Vijayan said.
The national disaster response team has been deployed in all fields of sensitive Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappauzha, Idukki, Ernakulam and Malappuram.
Army personnel were involved in aid operations launched in assistance to civil administration in Kottayam which was flooded.
About 40 army personnel and flood assistance equipment were deployed at Kavali, Koottickal in Kottayam.
One column of army personnel from the DSC Center, Kannur, with engineering and medical components arrived at Wayanad and began rescue operations.
Other specialist technical assignments (ETF) under the Head Office Dakshin Bharat from Bengaluru arrived at Mundakayam and Koottickal.
As many as three columns have been deployed by the Army.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the minister and promised all support from the relief process center and rehabilitation.
The prime minister expressed concern for loss of life because landslides.
Meanwhile, Revenue Minister K Rajan said there was a report that the rain would increase in the state of Wednesday, and steps had been taken to open more assistance camps in the worst district.
