Nagpur: After trying Covaxin in adults and children, Nagpur will host another historical clinical trial of the Covid-19 vaccine for teenagers.
Zycov-D, which has been approved for emergency use by the government, will now be tried on a two-dose regimen in Pulse Clinic and hospitals, Dhantoli.
Dr.
Rajesh Mundhada, who will lead this trial, told Ti that trials began on October 20 and so on.
“The three-dose regimen of Zycov-D has received approval.
But the maker is now trying to a two-dose format because most covid vaccines have the same regimen.
Vaccines that have been approved with good efficacy will be given to at least 300 participants here in Nagpur,” Said Dr.
Mundhada, adding that anyone at the age of 12 can take this vaccine for free.
He has appealed to parents who are interested in contacting Pulse Hospital for online registration.
They can also contact Dr.
Mundhada (9373103196) or Dr Atul Rewatkar (9822571411).
There are many who are associated with Zycov-d vaccine.
This is the first DNA vaccine in the world and is given into injection skin.
67% of the protector has been found against Covid-19 symptomatic in clinical trials.
The three dosage regimens may begin this month in this country.
“We have decided to accommodate this trial because it is the most important to bring normal to the lives of children too,” Dr.
Mundada said.
According to him, children face severe learning and behavior problems because schools are closed for the past half a year.
“I believe we can prevent the fully third wave projection if our children are vaccinated.
If the two-dose regimen of Zycov-D brings good results, more schools can get vaccines and schools will soon be reopened,” he added.
Before this, Nagpur held a covaxin clinical trial (for adults and children), intra-dermal variants and nose from Covaxin, as well as phase-III trial of covishield for adults.
Covaxin has a two-dose regimen for adults and children while Zycov-D requires three doses to be managed within 14 days of each.
