New Delhi: India ranks above in emissions related to plants, accounting for 13 percent of total global emissions for the period 2015-2020, according to new reports released by Blue Startup Blue Startup, which is also a global coalition part of the “climate trail” .
Blue Sky Analytics, Indian Climate Technology Startup established by IIT Alumni, also pointed to a 12.2 percent contribution by India against agricultural land emissions in 2020.
The data in the report revealed new insights into the recent trend in the Biomass fire, Including emissions from forest residual fires and plants in India.
For example, data verified the trend of decline in fire plants observed between 2016 and 2019, quoting the reduction of GHG emissions due to agricultural land fires of 11.39 percent in that period.
However, it also refers to emissions increased by 12.8 percent in 2019-20, increasing Indian global contributions to 12.2 percent.

The innovative approach meets the gap of important knowledge for all countries that rely on the self reporting system that currently functions as a basis for most existing emissions inventories.
“For effective climate action, it is important to have an independent level emissions view of most multi-sector inventories,” said AbhiLasha Purwar, Alumni Institute of Indian Technology (IIT) and Founder and CEO of Blue Sky Analytics.
Emissions estimate that the Blue Sky Analytics includes both fires caused by human activities, including combustion in forest areas for conversion to agricultural land or plant residues and fire activities, resulting in a comprehensive emissions emission description.
By combining several satellite data sources for identification and active fire characteristics with high resolution of global land maps, this estimate adds the existing state level reporting method, which mainly relies on seasonal estimates and land measurements from the burned area.
“So far too long, climate action has been hampered by the lack of independent data, can be verified on emissions.
