Jammu: The head of the Army, General M M Naravane, visited the advanced area along the control line in Rajouri and Poonch Regency on Tuesday and reviewed the security situation.
Twin border districts Poonch and Rajouri have become a nest of activities related to terror in the past.
The visit of Gen Naravane was present in the midst of an increase in anti-terror operations by the Army in the Poonch sector where nine soldiers had been killed in the past two weeks and the operation is currently underway to remove terrorists in the area of ββ16 corps.
“The head of the army visited the developed area of ββthe White Knight Corps and conducted a direct assessment of the situation along the LOC,” the official source said.
He was given a direction by the commander on the ground about the current situation and ongoing counter-infiltration operations, the Directorate General of Public Information (ADG-PI), Indian soldiers, said on Twitter.
News Minister Union Amit Shah is likely to visit J & K on October 22.
