Greater Noida: A 25-year-old young man allegedly shot dead a 20-year-old woman with a state-made gun before turning it on to himself on Jalan Dadri who was busy on Tuesday, police said.
The man, the police said, allegedly in a relationship with the woman and was upset after his family arranged his marriage to others.
Around 5pm on Tuesday, when the woman, Anu, went to buy some medicine with her sister, accused, Bunty, intercepted her.
He was allegedly trying to talk to the woman, but when he refused to listen to him, Bunty allegedly shot him on his head, kill him in place, police said.
The defendant then shot himself in the temple, the police additional condition was declared serious.
Additional DCP (Greater Noida) Vishal Pandey said that Bunty and Anu were neighbors in the Gautampuri colony from Dadri before the female family shifted to a different location.
His family, police said, opposed their relationship.
“The woman’s marriage was repaired with another young man and he was supposed to be married in December.
Bunty had tried to convince him instead but apparently, he was not ready to oppose his family’s desire,” said a senior police officer to Ti.
DCP (Greater Noida) Abhishek Jha said that the woman’s family could not be questioned because they could not be destroyed but said that Anu and Bunty knew each other.
Meanwhile, the video incident appeared on social media.
