Porvorim: Goa Legislative Assembly on Tuesday refers to the preservation of the Tree (Amendment) of the Bill, 2021 which houses the power of tree authorities, and goa (Verification of tenants) Bill, 2021 which proposed a tighter penalty for those who failed to submit details about their tenants to the police , to certain committees.
The opposition shows the government that the preservation of Goa Trees (Amendment Bill 2021) weakens the power of tree authorities, and with this amendment to the main infrastructure project as proposed in Mollem will be excluded from PurView.
Opposition members say that if the bill passes, people will once again protest because it means that the bill is continued for the benefit of three linear projects.
By stating that no tree census carried out in the state, Porvorim Mla Rohan Khaunte said that the state government tried to change part 7 of the actions that apply and change the preservation status of all trees in the jurisdiction.
“The state government aims to reduce the power of tree authorities,” Khaunte said.
Independent legislators say that according to the applicable law, the tree authority is responsible for the census of the tree inside and outside of the forest area.
Porvorim MLA said according to existing actions, the tree authorities were responsible for the development and maintenance of nurseries, seed supplies, puppies to grow more trees inside or outside of forest areas, and therefore amendments to limit the tasks of tree authorities.
Curorate Mla Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco also pressed to send a bill to the head of the Committee’s Minister Select Pramod Sawant then agreed to their demands.
