Patna: A contestant of Mukhiya Sonu Kumar Rai from the District Suggestion was shot and seriously injured in the Taraiya police station on Wednesday night.
Rai rushed to the primary health center (PHC) in Taraiya where he was referred to the conscious Chhapra Hospital.
His condition was declared critical.
The victim’s sister, Putul Devi, told police that two young men riding a motorcycle pumped two bullets when Rai returned home after campaigning.
He was in Fray from Madhopur Panchayat in the district suggestion.
Santosh Kumar’s suggestion directed an investigative officer to catch the earliest culprit.
“The defendant will soon be placed behind the bar,” he told reporters at Chhapra after the incident.
The election in Madhopur Panchayat under Taraiya blocks in the district is scheduled to be held on October 24.
The incident has triggered tensions between two rival groups.
Incidentally, this is not a case of isolated attacks on the candidates who are different under the institution of Pancayati Raj in the state.
The choice of Panchayat was detained in eleven phases.
