Coimbatore: Unknown people entered the house in the Gounder Mills on the outskirts of Coimbatore in early Saturday and stole four diamond necklaces worth Rs 1.30 Crore and 50 sovereign gold ornaments.
The robbery took place at home B Srinivasan, 52, who lived in a villa in the Kingsberry Sanbrix housing area.
There are 25 villas at Sanbrix Kingsberry.
The premise is covered with CCTV cameras and private security guards available all the time.
On Friday night, Srinivasan and his family members slept on the first floor of the house.
They use airconditioner in the bedroom.
Three thieves, who covered their faces, opened the back door of the house and reached the first floor using the stairs.
“Family members don’t hear any sound because they sleep well in another room.
They come to know about theft in the morning,” said a police officer.
Srinivasan told Thudiangur police who rushed to the place.
The coimbatore range of Deputy Inspector General of Police Muthusamy and Police Inspector S Selvanagarathinam visited the crime scene and conducted an investigation with home prisoners.
SP said ten special teams have benefits formed to capture thieves.
Sniffer Dog Kani is pressed into service.
Sub-inspector of the fingerprint bureau lifted several fingerprints from the crime scene.
The police said the thief had opened another house in the same place and looted several silver articles.
They also opened three individual houses at AthihalStakshi Nagar.
However, they did not get valuables.
The police registered the case.
