Chennai: The Chair of the Minister M K Stalin on Friday launched two initiatives by the Information Technology Department (IT) to strengthen governance and help the economy grow.
He launched ‘e-munnetram’ (e-progress) to monitor the progress of various projects conducted by the Tamil Nadu and ‘Nanban’ (IT-FRIEND) governments, an interactive platform for the industry that must be considered by various government tenders floating for the procurement of industrial services .
A statement from the state government said the high-level committee, led by the Secretary of the Head, will regularly monitor the progress of around 200 main infrastructure projects that jointly cost more than 1 lakh crore.
TNEGA (Tamil Nadu E-Governance Agency) has developed a ‘e-munnetram’ portal to review the progress of all the Tamil Nadu’s main infrastructure projects.
The portal will capture the main details of a project including the date of the agreement, it is estimated, when the project starts and the progress of the financial and physical parameters every month.
This allows the head of the department to update progress regularly, the flag of critical problems and the cause of delay.
Exports of the IT / ITES sector in Tamil Nadu have grown at 10% YoY (year-to-year).
