BELAGIVAVI: Heed the long-awaited demand for pro-Kannada organizations, the state government has decided to rename the Mumbai-Karnataka region as Kitture-Karnataka.
After inaugurating Chennamana Kitture Utsava in Kittur on Saturday, the Chairman of the Minister of Bukavaraj Bommai said the next cabinet meeting would delete the proposal.
The announcement was filled with a prolonged cheer.
Former Chairman of the Minister of BS Yediyurappa has renamed Hyderabad-Karnataka as Kalyana-Karnataka.
Bommai, who came late at night for a flag of the two-day Kiture Festival, said the government would also declare the Utsava Kiture a country-level festival to be celebrated throughout the state.
He said the torch kitture when ruled by Chennamma was taken throughout the state.
Likewise, the Valor torch will be taken to each district and the guidelines for this will soon be issued.
