Ahmedabad: Between September 23 and October 24, Gujarat recorded 595 Covid-19 cases.
Of the total, 341 or 57% of only three South Gujarat Regency – 173 of the letter (including the city), 125 of Valsad, and 43 of Navsari.
To place a figure in perspective, even Ahmedabad (including the city) recorded fewer cases than Valsad in 121.
Valsad and Navsari only recorded 9 cases each in the previous month, recorded a rise of almost 14 times and 5 times.
Compared to that, the letter recorded a 29% increase of 134 and Ahmedabad rose 12% from 108 in the previous month.
Overall, Gujarat recorded a 23% surge in a monthly case of 484.
Cases in two other large districts remained low – Vadodara Refoded 47 and Rajkot 18 cases in the last 30 days.
In addition, of the five deaths recorded in Gujarat in the past month, three were recorded from Valsad.
Valsad actually has the highest active case in Gujarat with 45 compared to 26 in letters and 25 in Ahmedabad.
Why is the southern district more vulnerable? Experts refer to relatively high people’s movements throughout the border.
A senior senior health health official said that nearly 50% of positive people have a direct travel history or they have come into contact with someone who has traveled outside the country.
“Similar is a case with a city like Ahmedabad who witnessed a relatively higher volume of passengers compared to other cities.
While vaccination has reduced the number of daily positive cases and drastically compared to the second wave,” said a senior health department official.
“The emphasis also to ensure that screening at the entry point is done diligently and contacts from each case is done to ensure that there is no surprising surge,” he added.
