Nagpur: While the country witnessed a decrease in the number of cases of Covid-19, some post-covid complications that are less diagnosed now arise.
After black mushrooms in the lungs, and yellow mushrooms in the eye, it is difficult to diagnose complications from the feared virus that causes bone damage to the spinal-disk space has been reported in Nagpur.
This infection is called Aspergillus osteomyelitis.
Internal medicines and critical care consultants Dr.
Vaibhav agrawal told that these cases of infection increased gradually.
“We have already begun to get some patients in the hospital.
In particular, Covid-19 patients who restored complaining of lightweight fever and back pain suffering from this fungal infection,” said Dr.
Agrawal.
“This infection has caused severe bone damage to the patient’s spinal-disk space,” he added.
This invasive fungal infection is very difficult to diagnose when mimicking spinal tuberculosis (TB).
Dr.
Agrawal said Aspergillosis was an infection caused by a type of mold or fungal called Aspergillus.
These mushrooms are commonly found in the environment but do not lead to any infection in healthy individuals.
However, when someone with compromised immunity or lung infection breathes in spores, they can develop allergic reactions and lung infections because of that.
“In severe cases, it can even spread to blood vessels and so on.
This new symptom of fungal infection depends on the type of aspergillosis a person is infected,” he added.
Dr.
Ashwini’s infectious disease specialist said aspergillosis was an infection and established case that was seen along with the plague of the second pandemic mukormycosis outbreak.
“The lung aspergillosis related to Covid-19 (Capa) is known by a doctor.
Such fungal infections have been detected in the patient’s oral cavity that is restored by Covid, and, in rare cases, in the lungs,” he said.
Dr.
Nitin Shinde’s specialist claimed that half the case of post-covid musicalcosis was actually aspergillosis.
“However, the worst is now over.
Those who have covid are heavy and have steroids may not ignore some common symptoms of this infection,” he said.
The doctor said that patients who had recovered from Covid recently, and had a backache who survived, had to contact the doctor immediately and finish the MRI scan.
If detected and treated earlier, patients may avoid the most painful complications.
These infection symptoms include fever and shivering, shortness of breath, coughing with blood, leather lesions, and joint pain.
