Jaipur: Rajasthan has pocketed second position in the State Energy Efficiency Index (e) -2020 securing 61 points from 100.
After Karnataka who topped the list with 70 points, Rajasthan is another country that has been rated as a ‘front runner’.
The index categorized 36 states and UT under ‘front runners’, ‘outstanding’, ‘competitors’, and ‘aspirants’ based on their EE efforts and achievements.
At Seee 2019, there is no state in the ‘front runner’ category.
Karnataka and Rajasthan have carried out various initiatives for high-end energy efficiency in the state, outside of relevant regulatory notices, reports by the power ministry said.
Rajasthan is the only country that has formed cells of Energy Conservation (ECBC) Cell in the Department of Public Works (PWD) from state funds.
This cell operates under the main architect guidance of PWD, the report said.
Where other initiatives contributing to the high score of the state is that it has taken steps to regulate energy-efficient targets for EE (energy efficiency) in street lighting, water) and sewerage, and non-pat industries.
This is one of several countries that reports measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) mechanisms to evaluate the demand side management program.
The report said that Rajasthan has appointed special institutions to conduct periodic energy audits, road infrastructure, water, and water treatment systems.
