Mangaluru: Want to ease the burden in solid waste management centers assigned to process excessive wet waste, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has ordered all apartment complexes that have been identified as mass waste generators to arrange in place.

Failure to comply with orders by preparing composting units will invite fines from MCC.
According to data from MCC, there are 2,337 bulk waste generators throughout the city, where 1,500 is an apartment complex, 450 is a hotel and restaurant, 11 is a market, 105 convention centers and 271 health centers and health centers.
So far, only 128 of these mass waste generators founded composite units.
Commissioner MCC Akshy Sridhar, citing the rules for managing solid waste 2016 and MCC solid waste processing regulations, said that the apartment complex with more than 30 units must be required to have a composting unit in place to process wet waste at the source.
“We have issued a notification of several occasions, and released a statement in the press asking for the management of this bulk waste generator to regulate composting units.
But our order has not been considered.
The apartment failed to comply with the rules.
Now, every flat must pay a fine of Rs 15 per month on the month November, the amount to be increased to RS 25 the following month.
