Rajkot: Five people were arrested for brutal attacks on six members of the Dalit family who accused that they were targeted by members of the top caste when they appeared for the installation ceremony in a temple.
However, Police Kutch said the allegations of the temple entry were examined in detail and claimed villagers did not discriminate against the Dalit family.
The incident occurred in Ner Bhachau Taluka Village on October 26.
“We have arrested five people and one has been detained because they were questioned.
Two accused of other injuries in the incident were in the hospital,” said Mayur Patil, police supervisor, Kutch (East).
Overall, 16 people were named in FIR submitted by victims of Jaga Vaghela.
Those who were arrested were Paba Rabari (35), Kana Koli (22), Naran aka Naya AHIR (36), Hema Rabari (40) and Kana Sadur Koli (32) while Dinesh Balalasara had been detained because he was questioned while two accused KANAHIR and shutter in the hospital.
The police have formed 12 teams to capture all the other accused.
All have been ordered for relevant IPC parts including attempts of murder and AWCT Act parts.
Overcoming the reporter on Saturday, Patil said, “According to primary investigations, the villagers did not object to the Dalit family prayed at the temple, but it looked like the fall of political competition.
