Namaz sites in Gurugram Down almost 50%

Gurugram: Namaz sites in the city fell almost half because Friday prayers were read only 20 of 37 appointed spots.
However, the protest, which has been held every Friday for the past few weeks, continues as usual.
This time, a group of locals landed on a prayer site in Sirhaul Village in Sector 18 on the Gurugram-Delhi border and demanded a stop to Namaz who was done there.
At 19 other places, Namaz died peacefully.
There was no prayer offered on disputed sites in the 47 and 12a sectors, where Govardhan Puja was held by several groups last Friday.
Sirhaul Mod is one of the 20 public places recently identified by the Committee where Namaz will be held.
However, because of the unavailability of space at the intersection, the Namaz site shifted to the park, which was opposed by several residents, who gathered in the area with Tricolor and shouted slogans.
“We are not opposed to Namaz but should not be offered in public places.
They (members of the Muslim community) must go to the mosque.
This park is a public space and people from the nearest area, including those who work in a company located near, visiting it along Days.
Religious activities should not be arranged in such public places, “said Sudhir Yadav, a resident of Sirhaul.
He added that people in the village, including many Muslims, live in harmony.
Mittal Rajiv Sanyukt Hindu Sangharsh Samiti said even though the clothes had given a call to oppose Namaz in public places, locals came out to protest themselves.
“Namaz must be offered at the mosque and idgah.
They (Muslims) have to apply for land if there is not enough mosque,” he added.
Altaf Ahmad, one of the founders of Gurugram Muslim Council and Gurugram Nagrik Ekta Mancha, said, “Right-wing groups have installed RSS Wing Muslim Rashtriya Manchai as called Muslim representatives in Gurugram and easily reduce the number of places to pray.” Ahmad added that Unless the government allocates land for mosques so that people can offer “dignity” prayers, the interference will continue.
Khurshid Rajaka, Chair of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch and a member of Haryana Waqf Board, said the priests, consulted with the authorities, had identified places for Namaz.
“Building peace, not politics, must be a priority,” he said, adding that if the land needed for the construction of the mosque, people must approach the waqf board.
A district administrative official said if the locals opposed Namaz on certain sites, then it would be changed.
“Namaz will be offered in places where the population does not mind.
Maintaining law and order is our priority,” the official said.
