Microsoft Office Suite from productivity applications is very popular in business circles and general consumers.
The technology giant is expected to launch a new trade experience for offices in 2022, which will change the business way to buy software.
However, a report by CNBC said that Microsoft will ‘force’ organizations pay 20% more every month if they do not choose an annual subscription plan.
The report states that the idea behind this is to lock the customer for a longer period of time and not worry about losing them.
Not to forget the extra income to be made.
The annual plan from Microsoft does less cost in the long term but small businesses don’t really appreciate it.
Some business customers – around 1,400 of them – Microsoft did not accept this and had started the petition against it.
Users have also been taken to Reddit and complained about Microsoft’s steps.
The petition states that Microsoft has increased a price of 15% and “adds an additional 20% to this type of SKU, it seems that almost punishment in nature.” The petition also states that monthly subscriptions have been very valuable to help with cost reduction, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic which crashes into the economic situation for many people.
In August this year, Microsoft has increased office 365 at 15%.
A corporate spokesman told CNBC in an email that “Microsoft provides a flexible purchase option to meet the needs of our diverse customers, and we do not openly reveal information about our premium approach and price for partners.” Furthermore, Microsoft said that he planned to introduce a monthly period option that would allow partners to provide customers flexibility at premium prices.
In official blog posts, Microsoft has detailed how plans will work for customers.
“To accelerate the adoption of a new trade experience, Microsoft will offer two timebound promotions that begin in January 2022, available on commercial seat-based offers in new trade: 5% discount for the annual term offer, and the equal term offer with the price equal to the term annual.
