Gurugram: Scheduled performance by Comedian Munawar Faruqui at the end of this month was canceled after the committee “received several calls to drop it” and BJP TI cell heads in Haryana approached the police to stop it.
The entertainment plant (TEF), the holder of the show, confirmed the name Faruqui has been dropped.
The source said the committee received a call that the event would be disturbed, followed which they took the decision.
“It was a joint decision taken by Munawar and we to drop it.
We received several calls from yesterday (Sunday) to drop it.
Our job is to entertain people and we do not want controversy.
So, considering the public, the decision was taken,” said Mubin Tisekar From Tef.
Faruqui is to appear at the Gurugram comedy festival on December 19 at Airia Mall in Sector 68.
In his complaint to ACP (SOHNA), BJP official Arun Yadav accused Faruqui insulting the gods and Hindu goddesses.

“Ask Gurugram to boycott Airia Mall and write down their thoughts in reviews for the mall,” said one tweet.

Tisekar said Grover had a previous commitment.
“Varun is not dropped for political reasons but has a previous commitment, and therefore, he comes out,” said Tisekar.
ACP (SOHNA) Aman Yadav was confirmed to the Toi that he received a complaint.
“This complaint was not based on the incident recently but the past occurrence.
We see this problem,” ACP added.
Last week, the Faruqui show was canceled in Bangalore after the police wrote to the organizers, quoting “controversial statements”.
Then, in an Instagram post, Faruqui wrote, ‘Naffat Jeet Gai, Haar Style artist (Hatred has won, the artist has lost).
I am finished! Goodbye.”
