PANAJI: The tender will soon be loved by the State Public Works Department for the construction of the Observatory tower and see the gallery on the new Zuari Bridge.
At RS 317 Crore, these works will also include construction approaches to get to towers, decorative lighting for the structure, and development of parking facilities.
The Union Minister for road and highway transportation, Nitin Gadkari, has said that the tower on the bridge of eight new Zuari lanes is expected to rival the Eiffel Tower as an international tourist object.
As planned, two high vision towers were proposed to be built on the bridge, which is expected to offer the views of the river of Zuari.
Each tower is estimated at least 110m high from the water level, and this project is planned to include an observatory gallery and watch, art gallery, besides the rotating restaurant.
Areas under the Zuari Bridge on the Agassimi side will be developed into a parking room for the Tower visitors.
A permanent road will bring visitors from this parking lot to a high-speed passenger elevator, which will take it to the top of the tower.
As per the brief provided by the Union Minister of Transportation and the highway, the tower design must be unique and must resemble the structure in the world.
This international tourism project is expected to impose visitors’ fees for experience.
In 2019, the contractor who built a new Zuari Bridge, Dilip Buildcon, was believed to have sent a design for the tower, made by the bridge designer itself from Paris.
However, there is no consent from the ministry for this design.
The new Zuari Bridge eight Lane is an ambitious RS 2,700 Crore project, which is almost complete.
The path of the bridge approach will tap into four lanes.
The project stretches from Verna Junction to Bambolim, covering a distance of 13.6 km.
More than 7km is being built at the levels that are elevated to allow traffic through it from below.
This will allow vehicles to use bridges to take speed, on toll road lines.
