Letter: You might just jump the signal with a dry light above the pole and begged ‘missed see it’, but what if the whole pole itself turns green, yellow or red? No one will definitely miss it, or at least that is thought by the Traffic Department and Municipal Corporation (SMC) letter when playing with new ideas.
While general signal lights and soaring with impunity throughout the city, Diamond City is experimenting with traffic signal lights illuminated for better visibility.
One pole turns on like it changes the color according to the signal light in Crospati Crossroads currently highlighting ongoing experiments.
On the basis of the test of the LED light with a reflector it has been installed on the traffic signal and if the effort is successful, it will be replicated in another location.
The Mumbai-based body has proposed a concept to SMC and the SMC traffic department is working on it.
“The concept of an innovative agency because it is being used in several locations in Mumbai.
Therefore, we started the trial in one of the locations of our city.
There are no fees paid for it, but if efforts are successful, it will be developed in other locations too,” said an official Traffic department at SMC.
Currently SMC manages traffic signal lights at 36 main intersections in the city.
At one pole at the chowpatty traffic intersection, several LED lights panels have been installed.
These lights use electricity and lighting visible remotely.
Regardless of lighting, it also saves costs, because it installs it on a pole that does not require a lot of change.
“Considering the visibility of pushing commuters to follow the traffic signal.
It was installed about a week ago and if it was approved more poles would be developed,” officially added.
A senior traffic police officer said that new efforts by SMC produce a good response from commuting.
“People develop a tendency to follow the traffic signal because of all the poles of illumination.
SMC must try this in another location,” he said.
