Bengaluru: The request for the Covid-19 test kit has increased dramatically with people who marched in testing centers after the state government emphasized the need for RT-PCR tests for certain activities such as the trip because of the emergence of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus.
Given the situation, experts have advised the government to focus on drive vaccination in the state and use resources such as the test kit with economical.
In November, when the second wave of infection receded and the case had dropped, the government reduced the testing target of 1.1 lakh to 60,000.
But revised the target to one lakh – 80% of them was RT-PCR – after two omicron cases were detected on November 21.
Of this November, 50,000 tests were mandated for Bengaluru.
But when the word spreads that the state makes a mandatory negative test report – to attend the legislative session in the BELAGAVI for example – requests for tests side by side.
Thousands have emerged in test camps around Vidhana Soudha, a home legislator and the multi-bound secretariat building in Bengaluru for the past few days.
“The situation is such that people think the negative RT-PCR reports are needed even to enter shopping centers and train stations.
Many repeatedly take tests with three or four-day intervals,” said a health department official.
KS LATHA KUARI, Managing Director of Karnataka State Medical Supplies Corporation Ltd (KSMSCL) said the company had ordered 24.5 lakh RT-PCR kit and had almost 22.7 lakh kits in stock.
Close to 22 lakh rat kits available and an additional 16.5 lakh additional kit is being contested.
“The government has increased the testing target so that demand naturally has increased.
But there is no scarcity of supply,” Kumari said.
However, the authorities clarify that the RT-PCR test is only needed for certain purposes and people need not be tested if they have no symptoms.
“People must know vaccination is more important because it is a long-term solution for Covid-19,” said KV Trilok Chandra, Special Commissioner (Health), BBMP.
“Those who don’t have symptoms should not be tested often.” He said the RT-PCR test was only mandatory for those who entered the country of ‘risky’ countries and countries such as Kerala and Maharashtra.
The famous epidemiology of Jacob John said: “The government and humans must make sense and are smart enough to read the situation and use resources correctly.
Random testing or voluntary fertilizer is not needed.”
