Ranchi: Apart from the best efforts and investment by the state government, the area under cultivation in the country remains static for the past decade.
Expressing concerns over the situation, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Abubakar Siddique, has urged Birsa Agricultural University to form the best scientist team to prepare a strategy document to increase areas in the cultivation and diversification of plants in Jharkhand.
When overcoming the 41st Rabbi Research Council at the University on Saturday, Siddique said the state government would provide the necessary funds to prepare strategy documents.
He stressed that the specific needs of the area, affordability of farmers and user-friendly aspects must be remembered when perfecting and recommending technology.
He invited suggestions for additions, removal or modification in the ongoing scheme from the Ministry of Agriculture and the inclusion of several important projects for this region in a week so that it can be included in the next financial year budget.
“Real solutions must be recommended for various regions such as Kolhan, Palamu, Chhotanagpur and Santhal,” he said.
Representatives of Chancellor, Bau, Dr.
Onkar Nath Singh, who led the meeting, emphasized the identification of climate smart lines to be used as parents for plant improvement.
“Special focus is also needed in biophorification to improve the quality of food nutrition through the agronomic practice of conventional plant or modern biotechnology as a significant part of the Jharkhand population suffering from malnutrition and under nutrition,” he said.
Officials looked concerned about the food safety of the increasing population when the demand for food items increased every year but increased production had been marginally due to increasing productivity by using high-end technology.
Former Chairman of the Genetics Department and Plant Breeding, Dr.
Z A Haider, suggested that state government counseling machines must provide feedback on the issue, priorities and preferences of farmers so that research efforts can be oriented.
Research Director Dr.
A Wadood and Haidar attracted the attention of the Ministry of Agriculture for vacancies at universities and non-payment payment packages 7th.
“The seven new universities were established several years ago running without regular teachers who influenced the quality of teaching,” Haidar said.
While Wadood shows that teachers and odor scientists have been seized from monetary benefits because it is the only university in this country without a new payment package.
